The story was pretty ok but the use of real photos as backgrounds just seem lazy and the animation could use more inbetweens
if you are going to use photos as backgrounds trace them to match the art style of the characters or draw the characters in a way to match the background

Actually, the real backgrounds are used in the story. The story shows that the world was originally all real and stuff, until the magic paintbrush turned the world's population into cartoons, but not the world. The real life/cartoons style is inspired by things like 'The Amazing World of Gumball', 'Sit Down, Shut Up', and 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'
